Phillip Riley has partnered with Iberdrola Australia, one of the world's largest renewable energy companies, to find a skilled Site Technician for the Walkaway Wind Farm.
This is a genuine opportunity to build a long-term career in renewable energy, working across High Voltage Balance of Plant (BoP) assets and wind turbine operations, with the backing and stability of a global industry leader.
About the Role
Reporting to the Owner's Representative, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the Walkaway Wind Farm. From auditing turbine maintenance activities and keeping HV BoP assets running safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot HV BoP assets, including predictive monitoring
- Carry out all HV works in line with Iberdrola Australia's HV rules
- Audit the wind turbine site provider's safety standards and quality of work
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure maintenance is delivered to contract
- Manage inventory through the CMMS and report on site operational performance
- Maintain site roads and tracks
- Support the Site Manager with visitor and stakeholder site tours
- Build strong relationships with landowners and key stakeholders
- Provide first aid support and contribute to a safe working culture on site
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology
- HV Switching certification
- Working at Heights
- Working knowledge of SCADA or PLC systems
- HV switching/operations experience, plus HV terminations and joining expertise
- Experience with high-voltage insulation resistance testing and fault finding
- Experience testing HV plant (transformers, switchgear, switchboards)
- Familiarity with protection relay software
- Ability to read and fault-find from electrical drawings (schematics, SLDs)
- HV switchyard and substation testing experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Comfortable with MS Excel, Word, SharePoint, and CMMS systems
